To
visit....
In Brown County, a visitor could easily spend an afternoon touring
the old Wabash Railway Depot Museum. There are displays of not
only railroad memorabilia, but military, medical, and antique
tool displays. Nearby the Depot Museum is a beautifully restored
one-room school building that houses many memories. Other attractions
for visitors include community festivals in Mt. Sterling and Versailles,
Wolf Ridge Pumpkin Patch, and the Scarecrow Festival which have
all become a focus of community activity.
Attending the Brown County Fair is a must for anyone visiting
Brown County during the last week of July each year. This county
has the oldest continuous Fair in the state of Illinois and is
currently the only country fair in the state to offer pari-mutuel
betting on its traditionally competitive harness races. Grand
National Tractor Pulling is also a yearly feature of the Fair.
