To
play...
One does not have to drive for miles to find diversion in Brown
County. During the summer, there are two pools open to the public.
Nearby these facilities are baseball diamonds that conjure images
of "The Field of Dreams"; they are in use day and night
during the spring and summer. Another opportunity to play, which
is truly unique to a small community, is a YMCA that offers programs
for all ages. Mt. Sterling Lake, located two miles north of town
boasts camping and picnic sites as well as the opportunity to
fish. Fishing, bird watching and waterfowl hunting are also possibilities
at Spunky Bottoms, a wetlands area being brought back by the Nature
Conservancy. Wildwood Girl Scout Ranch and Jensen Woods are also
open to the public for camping, fishing and canoeing. Adjacent
to the Lake property is Rolling Greens, a well tended nine-hole
golf course and home to the Little Brindle Open.
